A Road Safety Audit (RSA) is a formal assessment of the safety performance and conformity of a road being constructed or maintained by a multidisciplinary team. It qualitatively identifies findings and corrective actions on potential road safety issues, as well as identifying opportunities for safety improvements for all road users.
The purpose of an RSA is to answer the following questions:
What elements or conditions of the road may present a safety problem or risk: to what extent, which road users and under what circumstances?
What opportunities exist to eliminate or mitigate the identified safety issues (risks and opportunities for improvement)?
